Mixed-use projects combine residential and commercial spaces to provide occupants with comfortable living spaces and access to the community. And we’re seeing a boom in multifamily mixed-use projects post-pandemic as more investors recognize the need to evolve and innovate to meet the consumers’ growing demand for convenience and comfort. Here are the top trends in multifamily mixed-use projects:

Biophilic design

Biophilia describes our innate tendency to be drawn to nature. Recognizing humanity’s natural inclination to seek connections with nature and other forms of life in nature, architects are creating urban spaces using biophilic design. Multifamily mixed-use developments are embracing this trend with biophilic design elements such as skylights, living walls, and water elements. With nature in mind, architects are incorporating natural elements like wood and vegetation and spaces that welcome sunlight and promote natural lighting.
